Scleral Lens Tip | Keep Your Hands Dry For Inserting Your Lenses

When inserting your scleral contact lenses, make sure that your fingers are dry in order to keep your eyelids from slipping

Eyelids can be slippery, stretchy and have a strong reflex to close when something approaches the eye, so learning to keep them open during lens application can be a real challenge. But don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it!

A great tip is to keep your fingers dry, which aligns with what most professionals recommend. Start with dry fingers, and be sure to dry them again each time you need to start over. Slippery fingers can cause your lids to slip and close before the lens is fully seated, which may lead to air bubbles under the lens—or worse, pop the lens right out.
