scleral lens tip for inserting your lenses and reducing bubbles

Scleral Lens Tip | Inserting Lens With Applicator

This is a really crucial tip for scleral lens patients because it addresses two of the most common application issues: air bubbles and dropped lenses. Gently "tapping" the lens to the eye can lead to incomplete sealing, which allows air bubbles to sneak in under the lens. By confidently and securely pushing the lens to the eye with the applicator, the user creates a firm and even seal, which minimizes the chance of trapping air.

Why This Works

A hesitant or unsteady approach often leads to lens slips or drops. Applying deliberate, steady pressure helps maintain control and ensures more consistent placement.
Many new wearers are overly cautious at first, which can actually cause more problems. Understanding that a secure, intentional motion is safe and effective can drastically reduce frustration and increase success.

PRO TIP: Try a vented DMV applicator for easier insertion, especially if you’re new to this!
