For an athlete, vision isn't just about seeing clearly. It's part of high-level performance.
We're proud to share a new clinical case report by Dr. Christine Yuan, Dr. Tiffany Andrzejewski, and Dr. Marsha Malooley: "Blurred Potential: Optical and Ocular Surface Challenges in a Young Athlete with Keratoconus."
The case follows a 20-year-old aspiring professional baseball player with keratoconus who presented with blurry vision and ocular dryness that were affecting his ability to play. Following corneal cross-linking, his care team looked beyond visual acuity alone, addressing higher-order aberrations, scleral lens performance, and ocular surface quality.
What the report covers
- The full case history, examination, and tomography findings
- Conventional vs. wavefront-guided scleral lens findings, with aberrometry figures
- Where the lens surface fits in the ocular surface picture
Who it's for: Eye care professionals who fit scleral lenses, manage keratoconus, or want a worked example of looking beyond visual acuity alone.

(For wearers: if any of this sounds like your experience, your eye care provider is the right person to ask.)
