During certain times of the year, we receive questions from patients who notice their lens care products feel unusually cold in winter or warm in summer when they arrive. This can understandably cause concern especially when product instructions mention avoiding extreme temperatures. We’d like to offer reassurance and clarity.
Temperature Exposure During Shipping
While Tangible care solutions are recommended to be stored at room temperature during normal use, they can safely be used as directed after exposure to extreme temperatures during shipping, as long as they are allowed to return to room temperature naturally before use.
Shipping conditions, including outdoor weather and delivery vehicles, are outside of anyone’s direct control. Because of this, temperature exposure during transit has been considered and evaluated as part of our product guidance.
What Not to Do
Patients should not intentionally freeze or heat lens care products in an effort to extend shelf life or alter storage conditions. Intentional temperature extremes are different from unavoidable exposure during shipping.
What To Do Instead
If your product arrives very cold or warm:
- Allow it to return to room temperature naturally
- Do not use artificial heat or refrigeration
- Once at room temperature, the product may be used as directed
Our Commitment to Safety
Our goal is always to provide clear guidance and peace of mind, and we’re happy to answer questions whenever they arise. If you have concerns about a product you received, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
