Scleral Lenses and the Comfort Conversation

Scleral Lenses and the Comfort Conversation

If you're experiencing discomfort with your scleral lenses, initiating a discussion with your Eye Care Provider is essential. It may seem challenging to determine the appropriate moment to communicate your symptoms, particularly if you have a lively ocular history. However, it's important to understand that these challenges can and should be conveyed to your doctor.

It’s important to always clearly communicate your concerns and report any changes to your Eye Care Provider. It’s just as important that you describe symptoms and obstacles that cause you to feel uncomfortable in your daily lens wear or care. Your questions will lead to answers, guidance, and a better understanding that many of the symptoms you experience can be resolved.

Consider Asking Your Eye Care Practitioner These Questions About Scleral Lens Comfort

  • Can you help me understand the discomfort I’m experiencing with my scleral lenses?

  • Are there any specific causes like dryness, lens fit, or my care products that could be contributing to my discomfort?

  • Is there anything I can try at home such as changing my care regimen, taking supplements that improve my tear quality, or adjusting any environmental exposure?

  • Can you provide any other recommendations for managing the dryness I’m experiencing?

  • Are there any new technologies or advancements in scleral lenses that might benefit me?

  • Are my lenses coated with Tangible Hydra-PEG?

  • If they are, am I using the preferred care regimen for them?

By having an open conversation with your eye doctor, you can work together to address the dryness and discomfort you are experiencing with your scleral lenses and find an effective solution.

At the end of the day, your practitioner is there to help you with these issues. Don't be afraid to describe the problems you're experiencing and start a conversation about how to rectify them once and for all!

Are Your Lenses Coated With Tangible Hydra-PEG?

If you are currently wearing lenses coated with Tangible Hydra-PEG, ensure you are caring for them with the proper solutions to keep them performing their best. Using solutions that have not been approved for use with Tangible Hydra-PEG lenses can expose them to additional wear and tear or damage the coating permenently.

Check out our coated lens care tips here: https://tangiblescience.com/pages/care-tips. To improve your experience even more, try adding Tangible Boost to your care regimen. Tangible Boost is a monthly conditioner that helps restore the Tangible Hydra-PEG coating, and fight against wear and tear.

When speaking with your practitioner about any dryness or discomfort you’re experiencing, ask if your current or future lenses are eligible to be coated with Tangible Hydra-PEG. Your Eye Care Provider will be able to provide more information, and prescribe Hydra-PEG on a new pair of lenses.
